You hate me
for the mistakes of my grandfather
that I carry in my
mighty DNA
of numbers,
but this is me,
with my body
and voice,
and the green-ness of my eyes,
talking to you
in a voice of a girl,
poetry of a woman,
and wisdom of a human
that married my grandfather
(that you hate so much),
but you love me,
right?
So don’t judge the book
by it’s blood
-y
stains.
– Chatty Owl –
I relate to this poem well. Concise, emphatic, & as usual, well done, Ms Owl 🙂
Right?! Its nice, when some words hit home.
It is sad that people are unwilling to judge a person by their soul rather than by the last thing that came to earth….their body.
So very true…
Makes one wonder how someone could hate so deeply as to hold the DNA acccuntable
Well… Its more of a “if they were bad, you must be bad too”. Offspring of evils.
my dad’s death
forced me to accept
those
flawed, beautiful
traits
~
I’m slowly forgiving him
and
me
It is always easier to love than to hate…and we love you more my sister!
a most beautiful caress in words. Faithfully Debbie
Thank you Debbie… How are you doing?
BEAUTIFUL ~ye so thoughtful with me, it’s so refreshing in comparison to the general world… so, thank you sincerely for asking how I am. I’ve been fairly well and enjoying every day the best way I can. I do hope your holidays were wonderful for you dear heart. Keep writing your heart for hearts like mine. Lovingly Debbie
I always wonder how you are. I know im MIA in your blog, but very often a thought about you crosses my mind. I feel some very warm emotions towards you, sisterly.
Well, hated for or not… that’s some beautiful DNA you carry inside you, lovie.
Thanks sugar.. You are always sweet to me. X
It’s hard not to be when it comes to you. ^_^ Hope you’re having a beautiful day. xx
Sweet girl you are, Britt x
Great final lines
Thank you. Trying my best.
Hating you instead of the actions of another is the product of an insecure mind that is incapable of deeper compassion and empathy, and unable to forgive because of what they see in themselves. You deserve better than hate, you deserve love like everyone else does, and you deserve the person who will love you despite the sins of the past!
We spend our lives looking for appreciation from the others. As if we yearn for them to validate our existence. And when we find that one person that can do all those things without judgement, then we know that our life has a whole new meaning, not related to our past or any influences we were facing.
Thank you sweets, you always know the right words.
When said to the right person, the right words will just flow forth effortlessly! It’s always such a pleasure to read your beautiful words darling!
from one stained soul to another – bravo
Stained souls never become clean.
Very honest, raw and powerfull. Loved it!
Thanks sweet girl.
thank you for your compliment of my poetry! i am quite happy to now be introduced to yours! looking forward to reading more. 🙂
The compliment was just an honest truth and im looking forward to read more of your work this year!
Do not look at me for my past, but rather for who that stands before you ~ exquisite my lovely lady. x
Thank you darling… Its just that sometimes people are pointing fingers at certain parts of my life that i have no wish to be responsible or judged for.
X
Than those people should not be in your life, why should you be judged on others deeds, judging books by their covers when they don’t take time to read… Hugs sweet, stand strong, you are not your relatives..but you xx
You are kind. Then again, you are very intelligent and smart. So your opinion and comments are always making me feel good x
Oh dear I don’t know about intelligent – perhaps just wordly? 😉 and thank you, I am glad what I say makes you feel that way, your comments on my work make me feel good also. 🙂 x
One cant be wordy, if the head is empty 😉 x
🙂
wow, what a gorgeous poem! you work always reminds me of the beauty that can be found in our power and in our darker places! Happy New Year to you! x
Happy new year to you too, lovely! So sweet of you to stop by and read my poetry. You know its the biggest compliment to me, right?
Fascinating piece, places us all on a path through the generations and time. Nature or nurture?
Thats the question, right?
Yep – always a combo I think.
Your words are a stark mirror for a prejudiced world.
Regards
Rupesh
The world is indeed prejudiced and shallow. Thank you for finding time to comment.
wonderfully written, anyone who can hate you, doesn’t really know you
I often wonder how many people think they know me and what is the reality of those numbers.
Very good poetry, Owly … Every human is a world in themselves. Hugs.
Hugs back. For always understanding me.
Wow. You are delving into some fairly revealing territory Miss Owl. Thankyou for your vulnerability.
I am carefully dipping my toes into some more private theme. Hopefully i wont get burned.
heavy duty!!!! some of those messages just need to get out there.
Magnificent and as deep as the years of DNA which brought it forth.
Thank you. Your appreciation means a lot.
Oh I like this so much. Judge me on who I am, not my parents, grandparents or ancestors were. Happy New Year btw! 😀
Exactly! Bastards haha.
“. . . a human
that married my grandfather
(that you hate so much),
but you love me,
right?”
priceless
And very true.
Oh, yes. And, as synchronicity had me in its clutches (again), I had been writing on the ‘thing’ — the convoluted ways that love and hate, pleasure and spite dance in (family) circles. And the ways that ‘close blood’ tends to pose the most vicious threats to its own mixtures.
But I like the way you said it better.
Im still looking forward to read your ramblings on the subject. An inquisitive owl like me cannot stop but wonder about other people’s opinions.
Wonderfully stated….
Thank you dear.
nice!
Thanks! Glad to see you’re back!
Great !!! Happy New Year ❤
“but you love me,
right?”
Oui, Mon ami, Oui.
B.
Merci……
If only that was true…
I’ve missed your poetry
I have been busy eating for the past two weeks haha!
Where’s mine
Hmmm…worth a chew…
Dont worry if you feel like spitting out.
Behold! The words of wisdom have been told 🙂
Amen.
Splendid words.
Thats a very nice thing to hear.
I adore this! Every single word of it!
Thank you…
