You play the victim,
but all I see is an abusive coward,
that murdered my mind and got caught.
Words leave your mouth
(that I used to kiss with such a hunger),
and they evoke anger,
because they taste
of a deliberately provoked jealousy in me.
I answer you
in a series of questions,
that leave my heart aching
(and I instantly regret asking),
so I scream,
in order to drown out answers
that you probably won’t dare to even whisper.
You told me,
that she reminded you of me,
but honey,
every man is a spitting image of you,
I just never gave them the pleasure.
Loyalty is measured
by the ever-growing thickness of the rope
that ties us to each other…
and baby,
I’m cutting you loose.
– Chatty Owl –

By far one of my new favorites Chatty Owl
“And baby, I’m cutting you loose.”
Excellent last stanza. 🙂
Oh darling, thanks so much.. Means a lot to me.
This is brilliant.
Despite the fact I can truly relate to the subject matter, this is brilliantly written. You’re very, very good. Inspiring!
I felt your rage! I tasted your words and I felt free when you cut him loose! This was iconic!
Thanks so much for such a great comment!
I love the truth and disaster of this, darling. Beautiful and earned rage, I can feel your self-respect and I adore it.
I knew (or thought I knew) four men that this poem describes perfectly. Strong, growling with grace and powerful.
Thanks Beth.. Nice for you to stop by 🙂
Love the build up to the “cutting loose” lines:
“Loyalty is measured
by the ever-growing thickness of the rope
that ties us to each other…
and baby,
I’m cutting you loose.”
Awesome!
Reminds me of Christina Aguilera the song “FIGHTER”.
Good trigger!
Strong ending. I liked it. 🙂
Hey there mister! Long time no see!

So it seems! How’s life treating you, mister? 🙂

Your words
Carry grace
And undeniable mystery.
Yeah Yeah Yeah and Yeah!!!
I’m blown away by your power, Ms Owl!! LET LOOSE is prose right up my alley; simple, straightforward and dripping with venom. Not one bit of emotion was lost in your words. Unreal!
🙂
Dripping with venom indeed! You know me, im bitter and poisonous! Haha x
Forcefully and eloquently stated…
You thought so? Thanks..
Use a big sharp knife Owly.
Need to get one.
Always enjoy, you are a steady read from my coffee table book..love it.
Am i?! Awww darling x
poem after poem, you weave a compelling, beautiful tapestry … alive with voices, alive with pleasure, alive with suffering and resolve. exquisite x tony
Tony, as always, you come bearing the best compliments and praise that leaves me blushed in timid joy. Thank you x
Busted! Thanks for liking my latest. Liked this poem enough to follow this blog but it will take a while before reading your work in more detail. So, for now, greetings and best wishes from a fellow poet and blogger.
What a pleasant surprise, I must say. Im flattered.
Very striking and powerfull, I loved the ending – the message and the strenght it carries and I am glad if a rope like that got cut!
Right? Nobody needs a heavy weight of something like that in their lives. Thanks for stopping by!
Perfection, Chatty.
I couldn’t have said it better. This is how I’m feeling this week. Exactly….
Oh my… Then i feel for you, girl.. X
Well….he’s a dope on a rope. Beautifully done
Dope on a rope?! Ha! Awesome phrase.
he got what he deserved – but not “every man” bears his image
Thats true!
Love your endings! Fantastic owly. So bitter 😉
slam dunk woah – loved this and the 5 line close – a viper heading for its prey.
You told me, that she reminded you of me….. wrong words my boy…
zapped in the right places Ms. Owl – well done.
