Waiting for seasons to change
is as much fun
as getting your hair stroked
by your own hand –
it’s never as pleasing,
unless somebody else does it.
Naked trees are not the same
as naked bodies,
but it’s all porn to me,
because
I don’t believe in covering up
feelings
that I don’t have for you.
There is no shame
in wanting to forget your name,
but it is unfortunate
to realise
that I already don’t remember it.
(Or maybe I never even knew it?)
just like you never knew
how much I despise flowers in fields
and pots
and vases,
but I smile every time
you attempt to pick them for me,
because
that’s how much I don’t care
to be truthful to you.
“It’s not fair”, I hear you think
and I have
only one answer to this –
“you’ll get used to it”.
You and me –
never in love.
We learned the words of it,
but not the language
and when you looked me in the eyes
with that adorable look
that whispered how you feel,
I revealed the biggest secret –
it’s not love, my dear.
It’s just another day.
– Chatty Owl –
You smile
because I wanted to pick you flowers
that first time we met,
and you react
with such determined
dispassion
so this thing you despise
forms
your programmed response.
Your elaborate mouth
can only taste the sweetness of confectioned love
you imagine etched on mine,
and your rolling eyes won’t see
that it’s not because I think you like them—
but because
I want you to recall
their precise shade of yellow,
and remember
just another day
in Turgenevskaya-
when you picked them
for me,
and I hated yellow flowers.
This was quite impressive poetry in content and manner of expression. Got here from Tolu’s blog.
Good job, Owl.
Hi! Sorry for the late reply, Im glad you enjoyed my ramblings! Tolu’s blog? He is one great poet, Im glad his blog led you to me!
You are warmly welcome.
Yes, to have the courage and speak what you really feel… who knows what’s all hidden down beneath all the niceties we speak to keep up a good appearance. A good reflection to look into!
Tomas
Tomas, thanks so much for finding a minute to leave a trace on my blog. Yes, it takes guts and then some to speak up what’s on one’s mind and I have an enormous respect for people who know how to do so!
Lovely post i like have a great weekend my friend 🙂
Soul.
Thanks! And you too! Hope its an inspiring one!
Absolutely sensational poem. The truth for being true to one’s self.Smooth, beautiful rhythm .Thank you for liking my recent post (Authentic Responsibility ) Warm regards.jalal
Thank you for stopping by too! And it means a lot to see people appreciating my words.
This is a fantastic piece of art in words. The words flow so wonderfully weaving a tapestry of images in my head.
A couple under a tree one falling deeply in love waiting for the other to change. The other resenting the idea-happy where they are.
The image resonates so deeply with me. I recall moments like these with a bittersweetness.
Then my mission is complete – I have achieved evoking memories, emotions, reaction with my poetry. That means a lot to me and Im glad you took a walk down memory lane because of what I create. Thanks and its nice to see you on my page!
I must thank you for evoking such a strong reaction and for posting such wonderful posts! I must also thank you for being on my page! I’m glad you like my writings.
The feeling is mutual, my dear.
The poem reminds me of an old tree. As you read more, it tells it’s history, though he technically can’t talk. It can only bring back your own long forgotten memories. Can’t get enough of it. It looks like it’s squeaky voice whispers: dost thou wish to leave with such hasty abandon?
Oh dear.. That was the most beautiful comment.. Thanks my dear.. You know how much I always appreciate your opinion and encouragement to write! Whispers of a tree – i like it as a title now!
Thank you for blowing my mind this morning!!! So absolutely enthralled was I while reading this brilliant piece that I had to read it three more times just to be sure my initial reaction was correct! It was!!!
So glad you liked it! Thats what insomnia does to people – induces nighty rambles 🙂
You don’t have to tell me, I know all too well! 😉
Reblogged this on Poetoria and commented:
This is the kind of poetry I love. Simple, yet beautiful, communicative and absorbing.
I have never believed that poetry should be esoteric or be some form of art that can be enjoyed only by some “higher minds”.
Poets who write ‘flamboyant poetry’ make people generally dislike poetry, because they think it is out to humiliate them. You don’t have to be able to write music or even play a musical instrument to enjoy music, and that is the way poetry should also be.
Wow! You are so brilliant!. This is ‘true poetry’.

God bless you. 🙂
You make me smile.. Thank you for such warm and great comment. As we all sometimes, I doubt my ability to get the message across with my words, but I agree with one thing – sometimes it’s just a flow of emotions and feelings, without the rules of textbook how to write and what’s correct..
You know what I always remind myself of when it comes to rules? Someone made them, I can also make mine. 🙂
So well said! Yes! Exactly how I think. Otherwise we end up having cloned-up-type art that’s uninspiring and dull. You made my morning too! Hope the rest of the day goes well for you!
Tolu (can I call you that?), thanks so much for sharing my post.. I’m floored by the gesture. 🙂
Yes please, ‘Chatty Owl’, that is my name. 🙂
…And thank YOU for the beautiful read, made my morning already.
Wonderful 🙂
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Beautiful…and sad. But so beautiful
❤
Not sad, but thanks 🙂
Don’t like that but 😛
